The Desktop Support Specialist has a crucial role in managing the IT experience for users and ensuring the efficiency of the firm by professionally providing technical assistance with user hardware and software, ongoing education, and in-person advice to computer users. The ideal candidate must be passionate about providing exceptional personal service to our team, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring seamless technology operations. This role is pivotal in supporting our primarily on-site internal users, identifying solutions to technical challenges, and contributing to the smooth functioning of IT systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line support to internal users, predominantly in-person, by troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues efficiently and preventing downtime.
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems, ranging from minor glitches to more complex system malfunctions, both reactively and proactively.
- Offer clear and effective guidance to users both in-person and remotely, helping them navigate technical challenges independently; communicate technical information to users in an understandable manner.
- Install, configure, and maintain user computers, software, and networks to ensure optimal functionality.
- Proactively identify and recommend solutions to prevent recurring technical challenges and improve user experiences.
- Train employees on the use of hardware and software.
- Contribute to documentation of incidents, internal processes and procedures, maintenance of equipment, and training manuals. Attention to details is essential.
- Maintain firm-specific applications and software and evaluate ways to improve user adoption and user experience.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative problem-solving techniques.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of work experience providing computer support, or a combination of education and experience.
- Ability to move, lift, and/or carry 30 pounds with or without accommodations.
- IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Microsoft Fundamentals (365/ Azure), etc.) are a plus.
Successful candidates will possess:
- Outstanding customer service skills and a positive, service-driven attitude.
- Proficiency with desktop operating systems, including Windows.
- 2+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office products and Office 365.
- A customer-focused attitude.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to problem-solve and work with urgency.
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
